Configure your family's HousePoints experience. Manage users, devices, notifications, and system preferences.
Last updated: March 2026
The Settings page is available to parents and contains all configuration options for your family. Access it by clicking your profile icon and selecting Settings, or by navigating to the settings page from the dashboard.
Family Management
Manage who's in your family and how they interact with HousePoints.
Users & Places
View and manage all family members. From here you can:
- Add new family members (children, co-parents, or caretakers)
- Edit display names, colors, and profile details
- Set birthdays and daily chore goals
- Enable or disable individual accounts
- Manage places (home addresses, schools, work locations)
Devices
Manage kiosk devices paired to your family account. See which devices are active, when they were last seen, and revoke access if needed. You can also generate new pairing codes from this screen.
Kiosk Display
Configure what appears on your family kiosk displays:
- Theme - Light, Dark, or Auto (follows time of day)
- Layout - Grid, Flexible, or Compact arrangement
- Refresh Interval - How often the display updates (15 to 300 seconds)
- Widgets - Toggle individual widgets on or off (chores, leaderboard, clock, calendar, weather, dinner menu)
Active Sessions
View all currently logged-in sessions across your family. Each session shows the device type, browser, IP address, and when it was last active. Parents can revoke any session to force a logout on that device.
Chore Administration
Assignment History
Browse past chore assignments with filters for date range, child, and completion status. Useful for reviewing how chores have been distributed over time.
Deductions
Manage point deduction templates. Create common deduction reasons with preset point values so you can quickly apply them when needed. See the Points & Rewards guide for more details.
Rotation Groups
Set up rotating chore assignments so duties cycle fairly between children. Configure which chores rotate, which children participate, and the rotation frequency (daily, weekly, or custom schedules).
Audit Log
Track all changes to chore assignments, including who made each change and when. The audit log records deletions, status changes, verifications, and reassignments. This helps resolve disputes and understand how chores were managed.
Calendar & Schools
Calendar Integration
Configure calendar display options, event visibility, color coding, and syncing. See the Calendar Settings section for full details.
Schools
Subscribe to school district and individual school calendars to automatically import events like holidays, early dismissals, and parent-teacher conferences. See the School Calendar Integration guide for step-by-step instructions.
Analytics & Reports
Weekly Summary
View a breakdown of the past week's activity: total chores assigned, completed, and verified, along with per-child statistics. See completion rates, points earned, and daily breakdown charts.
Performance Trends
Track longer-term trends across your family. See how completion rates, points earned, and streaks have changed over the past 7, 30, or 90 days. Identify patterns and celebrate improvements.
Notifications
Notification Preferences
Control which notifications you receive and how. Toggle individual notification types:
- Chore completions and verifications needed
- Reward redemption requests
- Daily chore reminders
- Streak alerts (when a child's streak is at risk)
- Calendar event reminders
- Weekly summary reports
Kid Requests
Children can submit requests to parents through the app (asking permission for activities, requesting items, etc.). Parents receive notifications for new requests and can approve or decline them from this screen.
System Settings
Subscription
View your current plan, manage billing, and upgrade or downgrade your subscription.
Features
Toggle optional features on or off for your family. Not every family needs every feature, so you can enable only what you use to keep the interface clean.
Kid Passwords
Enable password-based login for children. This is required for devices that don't support Google, Apple, or Microsoft sign-in (like Amazon Fire tablets). Set simple passwords for each child that they can use to log in. See the Amazon Fire Tablets guide for setup details.
General
Configure general preferences for your account:
- Timezone and date/time format
- Week start day
- Theme preference (light, dark, or system)
- Sound effects and animations
- Location settings for weather
Security
Manage account security settings including session timeouts and login notifications. Review active sessions and revoke access to devices you no longer use.
Settings Tips
- Start with the basics: add family members and set up a kiosk before diving into advanced settings.
- Review notification preferences so you get alerts that matter without being overwhelmed.
- Check the audit log if there's ever a question about who changed or deleted a chore assignment.
- Use rotation groups to keep chore distribution fair across children automatically.
